Shenzhen
Located in the mid-southern coastline of China Guangdong province, Shenzhen
is close by Tai Ya Bay in the east, near the mouth of Zhujiang river in the west
and connecting with Hong Kong in its south. Known as one of the earliest
special economic zones and important industrial base in China, Shenzhen is a
newly rising tourist city with the most up to date tourist facilities and simple
arrival procedures for abroad visitors.

Entertainment
Most of the top-end hotels have international-style bars. The Henry J Bean
Bar and Grill is on the 2nd floor of the Shangri-La Hotel. Foreigners are
also warmly welcomed at the newly opened bar/restaurant like Sandra
Several discos are also operated in Shenzhen. But for more sedate
entertainment, one of the best venues is perhaps the revolving restaurant on the
31st floor of the Shangri-La Hotel where you can watch the view of one of the
most intriguing borders in the world below you.
Shopping
Shenzhen is one of the first cities to open its doors to the West in 1979 and
with its added advantage of being right next to Hong Kong, Shenzhen has some
great department stores. The electrical goods are a good buy here.
Hong Kong residents even make regular trips to Shenzhen for shopping.
There are some good bargains to be had.
Some of the consumption trends on the mainland, the latest fashions and
products from Hong Kong and Guangzhou are readily available in the city.
There are four main commercial districts within Shenzhen city. If you look
for nice clothes, visit the area around the railway station is particularly
good. Electrical appliances with good bargain can be found in the district
between the Shanghai Hotel and Seg Electronics Co. Try the streets around
Dong Men and the "old district" if you wish to find smaller
commodities. From clothes to cosmetics famous brand products are available
in the flashy department stores like the Xiwu Department store and the
International Commercial market along the roads between Shenzhen Grand Theater
and the People's Bridge. Another good area to purchase fine quality
products is in Boundary Street in the Shatoujiao district. Wall Mart, the
American hyper-market chain also has a branch downtown.
Food
Traditionally, it is said "The best food is in Guangdong", Shenzhen as
a new immigration urban, gathers all schools of Chinese food, with Yue Dish as
the main part. You can enjoy foods and drinks of many different countries
and areas, too.
Chinese Food
Apart from Yue Food, Chaozhou Food and Kejia Food, there are a lot of other
local food in Shenzhen, such as Sichuan Food, Beijing Food, Suzhou-Shanghai
Food, Hunan Hubei Food, Northeast Food, Gui Food and Northwest Food, serving
with its own famous traditional dishes and specialties.
Western and other international Foods
Western Food has also enjoyed much favor since it was
introduced into Shenzhen in the 80s. In addition, many foreign cuisine -
French Food, Italian Food, American Food, Japanese Food, Korean Food, Tai Food,
Vietnamese Food, and other International Food also gradually show up in Shenzhen.
Weather
Shenzhen has a subtropical maritime climate with plenty of rain and
sunshine. It is never too hot in summer and the season possibly lasts for
as long as six months. In Spring, Autumn and Winter, it's mild. But
it's not very cold in winter. The rainy season are during May to
September. Typhoons usually occur in summer and autumn, but most typhoons
are luckily obstructed by mountains.
